Great, just when we thought there was only one upcoming Wonder Woman flick to deal with, The Hollywood Reporter tells us Warner Bros. and Silver Pictures have gone and quietly snagged another Wonder Woman spec from newbie scribes Matthew Jennison and Brent Strickland. However (and this is the good news), the studio doesn’t plan to make this second Wonder Woman film because, well, producer Joel Silver and Warners are already hard at work on Joss Whedon’s version of the sexy superhero.Confused? Let me clarify: See, the only reason they picked up this second script was because they didn’t want anyone else to grab it, go into production, then turn around and throw a lawsuit at Warners claiming similarities between the two. Plus, they really liked Jennison and Strickland’s writing … and I suppose they now have a back-up in case Whedon suddenly packs his bags and disappears. The bad news? Um, I hate to say it, but the other script sounds more interesting. Apparently, Jennison and Strickland’s version used World War II as a backdrop, where Whedon’s take has Wonder Woman saving the world in present day. I don’t know about you, but Wonder Woman set against a World War II backdrop sounds a lot more unique and appealing. Now we can get back to casting rumors.
